With the Premier League starting tomorrow, most teams are jostling to sign players quickly so that they would be available for participation on the first matchday. Fulham have stepped up their hunt for Damien Duff. Roy Hodgson remarked , “The clubs are talking and I hope the deal will go through. He’s (Duff) a player that interests us”. Hodgson also was quick to deny any rumours that Hangeland was on his way to Arsenal. Nwanko Kanu has agreed a one-month contract with Portsmouth as they struggle with attacking options in the club. Pompey have not yet been able found a replacement for Peter Crouch. West Ham have completed the permanent signing of Radoslav Kovac from Spartak Moscow. Kovac played nine games for West Ham last season on loan and impressed during his brief stint.

Premiership newcomers Wolves have swooped for Chelsea defender Michael Mancienne. The 20-year old England U-21 international moves to the Molineux on loan for a season. Fellow new boys Birmingham have signed experienced French defender Gregory Vignal from FC Lens. Vignal last played in the Premiership with Liverpool. Alex Mcleish is still looking out for new faces and believes Birmingham need to sign more players to maintain their Premier League status. Fulham have tied up Clint Dempsey with an improved four-year contract while Hull have signed Stephen Hunt from Reading and Kamel Ghilas from Celta Vigo.
